iPhone diary

Life has been such an adventure lately but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

So this is where I live! I’m obsessed with the older, beautiful homes on my street.  I snapped this pic on my way to church in the snow yesterday.  (How I made it to church in the snow after being out late Saturday night is beyond me).  The Gold Coast in Chicago has some gorgeous stinkin’ houses. If only I were a millionaire and could afford to buy a place here…

Zoo lights in Chicago were pretty cool!  Definitely got me in the Christmas spirit. : )

I got to spend a week and a half home for Christmas and it was awesome. My nieces are quite possibly the 2 cutest human beings in the entire world. (And one more is on the way!) I love being an aunt.

I was able to work from our Philly office for a few days when I was home. Kinda missed that place.

Got in a few (painful) long runs while I was home. Ouch. I think I forgot how taxing running up and down hills can be. It’s been so cold in Chicago that I’ve only been running inside. Luckily my gym is amazing and has an indoor track, but STILL… I miss the great outdoors.

Also worked from our NYC office one day while I was home. I love New York in small doses, but I will admit, it is such an electric city.

TBOX bar crawl in Chicago with these beauties. Wild, wild, wild but I’m glad I experienced it at least once. (And no, I have no idea who that guy is behind us.)

Sleepy baby at home. I love my little brothers more than words.

Got to spend NYE in Chicago with these babez <3

And my best guy friend in Chicago, Phil. Ladies… He’s single. ; )

Shameless NYE selfie. I’m obsessed with the dress I wore. It’s from this store in Chicago called Akira. Chicago girls… If you ever need a fancy dress… Go there!! Impossible not to find one.

I’ve been doing most of my workouts in the morning. As much as waking up at 5:15 suckssss, it’s seriously the BEST way to start the day. Hands down.

Finally started cooking a lot at home. I’m glad I got back into it because for a while there my diet basically consisted of Greek yogurt, fruit, rice cakes and cheese. Embarrassing. Plenty new recipes to come on the blog. : )

I leave you with a beautiful PA sunset.

Portugal iPhone diary

Just got home from Portugal and had the most amazing trip of my life. I fell in love with the country and (even more) in love with Antonio’s family. I’m literally sitting in the car right now on our drive home from the airport and it’s crazy to think I’ve been gone for almost 2 weeks. Here’s a little preview of our trip! We took a ton of pictures on our new camera and I can’t wait to share them.

My love.

I loved the cute little houses in Antonio’s grandmother’s town. A lot of them had amazing tile work and a ton of color.

I am proud to say that I actually ran while there! Definitely NOT enough. But usually when we go away I suck at making time for my long runs. I ran to this town up a mountain (literally) called Luso, which is famous for their natural spring water. It was 5 miles away so I got in 2 hard 10 mile runs while we were there.

When you get to the top there is an area where you can get fresh spring water and it tastes amazing. Not to mention, it was the best motivation ever to keep running.

A bunch of the locals fill up their water jugs here and take them home for drinking water – which we did while we were there.

Cute house on my way up to Luso.

So handsome.

My favorite part of our trip was the time we spent in Albufeira, which is in the Algarve region in the south of Portugal. It was breathtaking… The most beautiful beaches I’ve seen in my life.

On our walk to the beach we accidentally discovered this hidden little beach surrounded by giant rock formations. It was the best accident ever.

The beach where we spent most of our time.

So beautiful.

The sun ombré bleached my nails!! Thought it was pretty cool. If only I could paint them like this.

Being weirdos. On the way back from the algarve we stopped to see a famous Portuguese monetary. So beautiful..

Travasso is Antonio’s grandmother’s town.

We got there juuuuust in time before closing so we had about 15 minutes to walk around inside.

Antonio’s grandmother. Such a sweet lady. I hated saying goodbye.

Bunny in their backyard. Right next to the chickens!

His grandmother walking through the backyard.

We spent a day in Porto, which is where Port Wine comes from.

Beautiful view in Porto.

Beers in Porto : )

We spent our last day in Lisbon before flying out.

Cutie. More beers… Clearly a common theme here ; ). I need some major detox starting tomorrow.

Last weekend we had a going away party for my sister and my friend Joan showed up in the exact.same.outfit. It was completely unplanned and I was dying when she walked into our house in this outfit. Which obviously meant my other girls had to change into similar outfits… ; )

These girls are my world.

I got my braces on this day and which would explain why everyone has grillz. My friend Kate wore her retainer all night. Talk about a real friend. <3 20130814-113733.jpg
Gorgeous flowers from my friend Gianna.

Gym dates with my love. He’s so handsome…

Playing Cards Against Humanity. If you don’t have this (incredibly inappropriate and hilarious) game, buy it. Now!!!

My step sister Danielle got married! She looked so amazing and the wedding was absolutely adorable.

Baby brothers at the ceremony.

How cute?!

Pretty center pieces.

Post long run bubble baths are my savior.

Erik and Evan moved in this past weekend. So glad I have a new workout buddy in Ev : )

Antonio showed up to my softball game last night with these. We met exactly 3 years ago playing softball! Such a cute surprise.

Sushi date in the city with my baby brother Evan & Antonio.

Sushi. I did not edit this photo; he’s just that tan.

We met up with my other brother & his girlfriend after sushi. They were on a date at Tria – one of my favorite spots in the city. How cute are they? She’s visiting from Japan for the month.

Morning runs with Back On My Feet.

Love running around city hall. Sometimes I forget how amazing the building’s architecture is. This picture doesn’t do it justice.

I got home from a run the other day and poured myself not two, not three but four drinks. Guess I was thirsty?!

Made another batch of my healthy oatmeal blueberry muffins. I’m obsessed. (plate – anthropologie).

Went to 2 phillies games last week! I love that we’re only a 15 minute subway ride away.

Having a beer in the parking lot is necessary before entering the stadium.

Antonio surprised me with 4th row seats! Never sat so close.

Sister and her boyfriend Nick being weirdos. : P

4th of July iPhone diary

Hope everyone had a lovely 4th of July weekend! Antonio and I are heading home from a great weekend at my grandparents’ place in Amagansett; it’s a little town between East Hampton and Montauk on Long Island. We’re always a little sad to leave but it was such a nice and relaxing weekend.

You can’t miss the place : )

My granddad and great granddad built the house together. It’s in the middle of the woods but only 2 miles from the beach – best of both worlds.

Grandmom & Granddad

Morning coffee on the deck. Ahhh

Beach bound!

Beach reading compliments of my friend Joan. This book is seriously laugh out loud funny. I can’t tell you how many times I would crack up and hand it over to my boyfriend and say “you have to read this!”

Splurged on some new VS bikinis. Oops!

I love how private the beaches are in Amagansett.

Yummy healthy breakfasts. My Grandmom picked up this blueberry bread from the farmer’s market. So. Good.

A little obsessed with this picture. How adorable? Granddad & Antonio.

The patio where we enjoy most of our meals.

Cervezas & mimosas on the beach. Please note the difference in skin tones. It’s hard dating a Portuguese guy sometimes… Makes me look even fairer than I already am!

Barefoot runs on the beach.

I can’t tell you how hilarious it was seeing Antonio run after me trying to snap pics of me running. Couldn’t stop laughing. : )

Brought some healthy snacks to the beach with us. Mason jars are perfect for homemade fruit cups.

Seeing cute little houses like this one on my runs.

Yes, I do still bring my baby blankie with me on trips like a 5 year old girl.

Packed turkey flatbread sandwiches for our drive home. Preparation is key! Last time we drove home from Amagansett we stopped at a Taco Bell for dinner and haaated ourselves for it afterwards. Not because we got sick or anything, but how can you not hate yourself a little bit after eating crappy fast food on the way home from vacation? No more of that!

Back to reality tomorrow. I’m looking forward to starting a fresh week, getting back on track with my workout schedule and eating healthy. I splurged a little bit this weekend but it was worth it : ).
